Sama means sky, and dinner here is under it: a lantern-lit roof terrace over the medina, with the Koutoubia minaret on the skyline. The chef, Fatima Zahra, cooks a short set menu that changes with the market — slow tagines in clay, a seven-salad mezze, lamb mechoui on Thursdays — alongside a small list of Moroccan wines from Meknès and the coast. Open to guests and, by reservation, to a few tables from outside. Eight to fourteen covers a night.

Breakfast is laid in the courtyard every morning, under the orange trees and beside the pool: msemen and baghrir from the griddle, amlou, local honey, eggs cooked to order, fresh orange juice. At lunch, light plates and salads; from three o’clock, mint tea poured from height with pastries baked in the house. Breakfast is included in every stay.
Lovely room opening straight onto the pool, and the most generous breakfast. The walk from the car park takes a few minutes, but the porter meets you, so it is easy. Would book the roof suite next time.
We travelled with our two children and the Dar Nour Suite was perfect: a room for them, a salon for us, and a bathroom like a private hammam. The staff arranged a desert dinner in the Agafay that the kids still talk about.
Hard to believe the noise of the souks is two minutes away. The hammam ritual was the most relaxing two hours of my year. Small details everywhere — rose petals, fresh mint, the lanterns lit when we came back at night.

About us
Riad Dar Nour is a house of eight rooms and suites in the old medina of Marrakech, a few minutes from the Mouassine fountain and the souks. Behind an unmarked cedar door, a bent passage opens into a courtyard of green zellige, four orange trees and a small plunge pool, with two storeys of carved galleries rising around it and a roof terrace above the medina.
The house was built for a cloth merchant in the late nineteenth century and restored over three years by craftsmen from Marrakech and Fès: tadelakt plaster burnished by hand, zellige cut tile by tile, cedar ceilings repainted from the fragments that survived. Every room is different, and every one keeps the quiet that thick riad walls were built to give.

Where we are

Prices are in Moroccan dirhams and include 10% VAT. The city tourist tax is collected at the riad. We accept cards and cash.
Free cancellation until 72 hours before arrival. After that, or if you do not arrive, the first night is charged.
Ask at reception or message us before you arrive. The hammam is private and runs from 10am to 8pm by appointment; we suggest booking a day ahead.
Only partly. The Bahia Courtyard Rooms are on the ground floor with one low step; the other rooms and the roof are reached by traditional stairs and there is no lift.
Yes. The Majorelle and Fassi suites take a third bed and the Dar Nour Suite has a second bedroom. The plunge pool is unfenced, so children must be supervised by a parent at all times.
